To Mom:
It’s that time of year again, time to start all that spring cleaning on top of your day to day cleaning. Asking your husband to mow the lawn and your children to pull the weeds doesn’t always go so well. Since you are such an accomplished, amazing, task oriented, woman you find yourself taking over… because no one knows how to get the job done better than mom does.

There are many benefits of gardening other than having the nicest lawn on the block. Did you know gardening is highly recommended as a therapeutic stress reliever? It gets your body moving and exposed to fresh outdoor oxygen.

Mom we appreciate all that you do. Thank you for always picking up our slack. Your magic touch makes everything bloom.
Here are some handy tips to avoid injuries in your garden:
1)Loosen up
Go for a brisk 10 minute walk and stretch before you get digging.
2) Practice Good form
This will make all the difference in how you feel the next day. Do not twist around or contort to get into hard to reach areas. Move yourself slowly. Stand up and re-position if you need to. A good trick to keep your back and knees safe is to use a knee pad to rest on.

3) Get a Grip
Shoveling is great for preventing carpal tunnel syndrome by exercising strength and flexibility in your wrist and hands. It is important to protect your hands by using a good pair of gloves. Gloves protect your hands from cuts and scrapes as well as keeping out dirt and avoiding infections.

4) Don’t overdo it
Allow yourself to work in 30-45 increments only. Always give your body and mind a break in between jobs so that you can recharge and avoid strain.
5) Eat what you sow
Studies show a person who plants their own foods are more likely to consume and take pride in what they grow.  Plant more fruits and veggies to add some healthy eating to your routine.

So mom, we hope you are feeling well equip for the gardening season ahead. Feel free to pass these tips on to your family members if they so choose to do the work for you this mother’s day.
